7 'Emily in Paris' Outfit Inspo For Your Closet

Is Emily in Paris the new SATC?

From the creator of Sex and the City and styling by the amazing Patricia Field who worked on the same, Netflix brings us a very cliched, corny and cheesy tale centered on a woman who moves to the land of whirlwind romance. With stereotypical French characters to men who drop everything just to have Emily (Hold my Champagne while I book my ticket to Paris already! Oh, the PANDEMIC! Oh No! I am broke)

While the Internet is divided on its comparison to shows like Gossip Girl and SATC, this one has all the right ingredients for a typical chick-flick with a sense of escapism (Oh, all the designer clothes you’ll see!) from your quarantine couch (Yes, Netflix We Are Still Watching!)

Not denying the binge-worthy quality of the show but is it Parisian enough? Debatable!

I would say watch it for the fashion, from colour-block to print-clash to layering, topped-off with berets or bucket hats, and a few good laughs in between, here are some of the best looks from the show that can be easily adapted to your street style.

1. Plaid Pleasure

Go for a plaid skirt suit or a black-and-white tailored blazer with shorts. Pair it up with a quilted crossbody bag and contrast beret that can be worn throughout this winter.

2. All The Pinks

Hot pink is such a constant in this show and I don’t know of anything more statement-making than a bold trench coat this season for that Parisian perfection. Layer it over a tie-dye top and carry on your chunky chain bag, and you are good to go.

3. Berets & Bucket Hats

If you’re a fan of the show, then you know the keyword.

Going to work? Bonjour berets! Influencer meetings? Bucket hats for the save!

Get your Emily-approved style with these complimenting beauties.

4. Cozy Colour-Block

This fuzzy sweater on Emily screams Winter 2020. Even better- try oversized! Pair it with black pants and amp it up with a beanie, bucket bag and big hoops for the total win.

5. Wild Prints

Claim the floral power in a puffer coat and skirt co-ords, finished off with a pink beret or go chic in an off-shoulder dress with belted waist, and throw on a scarf-trim bag to complete the look.

Add some pop of colour to your wardrobe with a sunny yellow dress, add on a black belt and taupe boots for your Sunday brunch look.

6. Scarf Love:

How to style your scarves? Take notes from Emily, stat!

Get that American in Paris vibe by adding it to everything from your jumpers to bags for that silky sheen touch.

7. Statement Bags

Wanna add that extra oomph? Go for quilted or fuzzy with statement gold chunky chains to match your outfits for that classy, chic and feminine look.

And no! not all of us can invest in a Chanel or an Off-white right now, but I stan Emily for bringing us bright, out-of-the-box outfit combinations and the joy of dressing-up on screen as we while away in our WFH lounge wear.
